Short answers to the questions most users and reviewers will ask.
Does it decide ownership?
No. Electronic Registry records what was registered and when. It does not decide ownership, authorship, truth, originality, legality, platform approval, or official approval.
Does it store files?
The normal browser flow calculates the file hash locally and records the resulting hash. The raw file is not sent in that flow.
Can I use any file type?
Yes. Any file type can be selected in the current browser hashing flow, subject to the local helper size limit shown on the page.
What does it cost?
Verification is free and does not require sign-in. Creating a new record or a new Public Reference entry consumes one recording unit; a duplicate or a failed write consumes none. See recording capacity & pricing for details.
Are beta records permanent?
The registry model is append-only: once a record is created it cannot be edited or removed, and updates are added as new entries. During the current controlled beta, records are written to Solana Devnet, a public test network that may be reset, so beta records should not yet be treated as production-permanent. Full production permanence arrives with a later mainnet deployment.
What happens if Electronic Registry shuts down?
Records are written to a public blockchain, not only to Electronic Registry systems. The chain data is publicly readable, and Electronic Registry is building a simple way to read and verify any record directly from the chain, so a record stays checkable by anyone even if Electronic Registry itself were to stop operating.
